The European Accessibility Act from a front-end perspective
Annotation
On June 28, 2025, Act No. 424/2023 Coll. on Accessibility Requirements for Certain Products and Services will take effect, with the aim of transposing the European Accessibility Act. What new developments and changes will this law bring compared to current legislation? Should we be concerned about its implementation—perhaps due to penalties—or will it not bring any major changes?
Accessibility rests on three pillars: code, design, and content. In this post, we will focus primarily on the first pillar: accessible code. Although it is often overlooked—mainly due to a lack of expertise—and does not receive the attention and care it deserves, it forms the foundation without which no accessible website or application can function.
We’ll review what not to forget when developing an accessible interface, why and for whom it’s important, and we’ll back up these claims with hard data—so we can be sure that what we’re doing is truly beneficial for users.
