Signals in JavaScript

A proposal has been made to introduce signals into JavaScript. What exactly are these signals? What will happen if they actually become part of JS? In my opinion, this will mean that current frameworks (React, Vue, Angular, Svelte) will essentially cease to make sense. What will replace them? And what problem will future libraries and frameworks solve?
